2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe review: 🤍 Watch our latest video: 🤍 Sign up to Carbuyer’s FREE newsletter: 🤍 BMW is famous for its luxurious driver’s cars, yet in recent years it appears as if the brand has been focusing more on ‘luxury’ than it has ‘the drive’. The latest BMW 2 Series Coupe, on paper, seems like a return to form; instead of the front-wheel-drive setup of the 2 Series Gran Coupe and 1 Series hatchback, the Coupe uses the same rear-drive layout of the larger and sportier BMW 4 Series. Has all this made the new 2 Series the best-handling BMW in years? Rich finds out. Looking to sell your car? Then you've come to the right place. carwow is the free, easy way to change your car online. Check it out here: 🤍 ............................................................. Introducing the all-new BMW M240i! It’s the ‘M-Lite’ version of the new BMW 2 Series coupe, and in this review, Mat’s going to find out if it’s worth the £46,000 starting price, or whether you should hold out and wait for the upcoming BMW M2 instead. For starters, let’s see what powers this all-new sports coupe. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 3-litre straight-six turbocharged petrol engine that can deliver 374hp & 500Nm! What’s more, they also drive all four wheels and BMW claims it helps propel the M240i to 60mph in 4.3 seconds! In terms of design, there are a number of differences to the standard 2 Series. There’s a sportier bumper at the back coupled with wheel arch extensions around the side. You’ll also find bigger air intakes and a larger bumper upfront. And naturally, there are multiple M badges across the car. The M badges continue once you’re inside, too, with M stitching on the seat belts which support you in the all-new sports seats! Otherwise, the interior is well designed and comes with quality materials throughout. So what do you think - is the M240i the must-have BMW sports coupe? Or should you upgrade to the M4 or wait for the new M2? You’ll have to stick with Mat to see for yourself! 2022 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer review: 🤍 Watch our latest video: 🤍 Sign up to Carbuyer’s FREE newsletter: 🤍 BMW wasn’t traditionally a name associated with MPVs, yet in 2022 the 2 Series Active Tourer is one of just a handful of people carriers remaining. Most have been culled to make way for fashionable SUVs, but should they have been? The new Active Tourer is certainly practical for a family car, seating five people in comfort and with a decent-sized boot. Being a BMW the engine line-up impresses, with mild-hybrid petrols, a diesel and two plug-in hybrids. The latter are pricey to buy, but offer an electric range of up to 55 miles, slashing running costs for business and private buyers thanks to CO2 emissions of just 15g/km. Should you forget about SUVs and take a look at the 2 Series Active Tourer instead? Rich puts it to the test. Is the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe a good car? Howard Ritchie takes the Leasing.com one over to another reasonably priced bed and breakfast "Frimley Hall" (at our expense!) for a test drive and review. We find out which BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe you should go for... either the 218i the M235i or one of the diesel versions. We discover what the Gran Coupe is like to drive compared to the BMW 1 Series and cover some of the best bits. 🚨 Don't forget to leave us a comment and we would love to welcome you as a subscriber. 🚨 When leasing - which is like PCP - you give the car back at the end of your term the VED is included in your one monthly price. Cars over £40,000 incur an additional £310 per year premium, on top of the standard VED rate for that car. Oftentimes this works out at around £40 per month. We also explain how some of the BMW specification packs work and what things to look out for when getting on. Also, is the 2 series RWD - er, well, no, nor is it available in Drive - unless you opt for the 235i version. 👉 💰 Compare the latest BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe monthly personal lease prices: 🤍 The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe we sent down to him was the F44 220d M Sport, presented in Mineral Grey with Magma Red interior. It included the following specification... M Sport Plus Pack: ✅ 19in 552M Double-spoke style alloy wheels. ✅ Bicolour. ✅ M Sport braking system. ✅ Sun protection glass. ✅ M seat belts. ✅ Loudspeaker system - harman/kardon. ✅ Surround sound. ✅ M rear spoiler. ✅ BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line with extended contents. Technology Pack: ✅ BMW Icon Adaptive LED Headlights. ✅ High-beam Assistant. ✅ Parking Assistant. ✅ Head-up Display. ✅ Enhanced Bluetooth with wireless charging 6WD WiFi hotspot preparation. Howard's Likes: 👍 Sound system, harmon/kardon. 👍 Binnacle and ID7. 👍 Steering response. 👍 Dynamics. 👍 Economy. 👍 Brand. 👍 Looks. 👍 Icon LED adaptive lights. (he says they do a light show at night). 👍 Price. 👍 M235i. 👍 218i. Howard likes less: 👎 Road noise on 19s / Bridgestone Run flats. 👎 Suspension - very sporty! 👎 Small cabin for large people. 👎 Desiel engine sound. 👎 Magma Red interior - go for Oyster or the cloth. 👎 All cars that make you say the word "Hey" anything. 👎 No sunroof fitted to this car. 📝 Who are we? Tests on the BMW 2 Series Coupé showed that the car is offering good crash protection and satisfactory protection to vulnerable road users.  The autonomous emergency braking system performed adequately in more straightforward testing scenarios, involving other cars and pedestrians, but was limited in the more challenging scenarios such as cyclist crossing and turning across path.  The car achieved a creditable four stars as a result. The fun-size BMW 2-series is an entry-level luxury car with big thrust. Sold as a coupe only, the 230i and M240i have vastly different power levels, but are both offered with either rear- or all-wheel-drive. The 230i employs a turbocharged 255-hp inline-four that it shares with the Toyota Supra 2.0 and a host of other BMW products. The M240i comes with the far more entertaining turbocharged 382-hp inline-six engine. Sadly, no manual transmission is offered. Still, BMW’s smallest car’s recent redesign has wrought a deceptively quick ride, with solid braking and a chassis that loves the twisties. Although it's grown in size, its rear seat space is smaller than before. However, the most important aspect of the 2-series remains true in this generation: it rewards spirited driving at a reasonable price—particularly in four-cylinder, 230i form. There is a more rear-passenger-friendly four-door wearing a 2-series badge: it’s known as the Gran Coupe but it’s built on a completely different front-drive platform that has yet to win us over. We review that model separately. What's New for 2023? The BMW 2-series was fully redesigned last year, so there are only minor changes for the 2023 model year. BMW adds a new curved gauge cluster display as standard equipment and removes Satin Aluminum exterior and Black High Gloss interior trim options from its build sheet. Pricing and Which One to Buy 230i $38,395 230i $38,395 230i xDrive $40,395 M240i $48,895 M240i $48,895 M240i xDrive $50,895 0$10k$20k$30k$40k$50k$60k$70k$80k We think the rear-drive 230i is the one to buy. Its 255-hp turbo four isn't nearly as quick as the 382-hp straight-six in the M240i, but we found it delightfully rewarding to drive with the addition of the Dynamic Handling and M Sport packages. The former requires the latter but combined their mix of performance upgrades (bigger wheels on stickier tires, firmer suspension components, stronger brakes, etc.) and unique visual treatments are highly desirable. Engine, Transmission, and Performance The 230i features a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and the M240i has a 382-hp turbo 3.0-liter inline-six. The 230i and M240i are both offered with rear- and all-wheel drive. An eight-speed automatic is the only transmission choice. During our test of the 230i, it reached 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and a quarter-mile in 13.7 seconds at 101 mph. Those looking to squeeze the most performance out of the 230i will want to choose the M Sport and Dynamic Handling packages that together include 19-inch wheels on performance tires, a sportier suspension, upgraded brakes, a variable-ratio steering system, and an electronically controlled rear differential. Most of these goodies and more come standard on the M240i. When we tested that model we were impressed by its ability to lunge off the line (60 mph in 3.6 seconds) and its refined ride-and-handing. But like many of the latest Bimmers we wish it had better steering feedback. 2022 bmw 230i coupe Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG The rear-drive, four-cylinder 230i is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel-drive, six-cylinder M240i is rated at 23 mpg city and 32 highway. During our 75-mph fuel-economy test, the rear-drive 230i achieved 38 mpg, beating its EPA estimate. 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe: SERIOUSLY GOOD!!!

Things have changed with the BMW 2 Series Coupe, but at the same time, things have stayed the same. You see, traditionally, the 2 Series has shared the same platform of the 1 Series hatchback. However, the latest 1 Series has changed to being front-wheel drive, while for the new 2 Series, BMW wanted to maintain a sporty rear-drive character. That's why it's been given a shortened version of the rear-drive platform found in the 3 Series saloon and 4 Series Coupe, both bigger, more sophisticated, and considerably more expensive cars. That makes the latest 2 Series arguably the best-value car that BMW makes. It comes in various petrol and diesel forms, but the car featuring in this video is the range-topping M240i, with its 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine developing 374 horsepower. Under normal circumstances this power is fed to the rear wheels by the eight-speed automatic gearbox, but if wheel slip is detected, power can also be sent to the fronts, making the M240i a VERY rear-biased four-wheel-drive car, one that can see off the 0-62mph dash in just 4.3 seconds. In this CarGurus UK video review, Rebecca Jackson looks at what else is great about the 2 Series, and finds out just what an impressive overall package it is. The 2023 BMW 2 Series is an entry-level luxury car with a mesmerizing character. The striking, extroverted styling, as well as the brawny powertrains options and improved infotainment, are some of the most exciting features of the latest 2 Series. BMW focused on delivering maximum driving enjoyment by finding the right balance between the braking, chassis, and engine. So let's look at 10 Things We Love About The 2023 BMW 2 Series.

There’s occasional wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth over the question of whether a four-door car can be called a coupe. Rover set tongues wagging close to 60 years ago with its P5 Coupe; to all intents and purposes a sedan with a lower, slightly swoopier roofline. But in the 21st century, BMW has wiped the conversation aside and gone four-door coupe mad, even applying the tag to a couple of its X Series SUVs as well as a series of more conventional models. So, rather than call in the coupe police, after they’ve visited Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, we’ll go with the flow and introduce you to the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, launching in two variants - the 218i (front-wheel drive, 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo), and M235i xDrive (all-wheel drive, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo). Is there anything interesting about its design? The whole BMW Gran Coupe ‘thing’ kicked off in 2012 with a lower, longer, extra-doored version of the 6 Series coupe. Following in its fashionable wheel tracks were the 4 Series Gran Coupe in 2014, an 8 Series model in 2019, and now this diminutive 2 Series. The formula is broadly similar in each case. Take the two-door coupe, stretch it length-wise, add a couple of doors and remove the frames from all of them, then let the wind tunnel smooth out the overall form. In line with that design approach, at just over 4.5m long the Gran Coupe is 94mm longer than the 2 Series two-door, as well as fractionally wider (+26mm), and a little taller (+7.0mm). But the surprise is a shorter wheelbase (2690mm) for this front-wheel drive model (based on the 1 Series platform), compared to the rear-wheel drive two-door (2670mm). A big grille is a key part of BMW’s current design language, and the 2 Series Gran Coupe obliges with a suitably large version of the brand’s signature ‘kidney’ grille with a single surround unifying it graphically. Angry, angular LED headlights combine with large air vents either side of the front clip to conjure up a confident, assertive face. The car’s profile conforms to the BMW Gran Coupe template with the roofline tapering markedly towards the rear and strategically placed character lines along the car’s flanks adding visual interest and enhancing the its lengthy look. BMW devotees will recognise the term ‘Hofmeister Kink’, a characteristic up-turn of the trailing edge of a BMW’s side window glass, This time around BMW refers to the element as an ‘upright’ Hofmeister Kink, which is a misnomer, because it’s so upright it no longer conforms to the vision of Wilhelm Hofmeister (the Bavarian maker’s head of design in the early 1960s). Slim, long, distinctly horizontal LED tail-lights define the rear view, with other lateral lines and trim elements enhancing the car’s wide, planted stance. The interior will be instantly familiar to any current model BMW owner with the neatly arranged dash featuring the ‘Cockpit Professional’ set-up including a 10.25-inch configurable instrument display, and another same-size multimedia screen annexed to the main binnacle. All instrumentation and key controls are angled towards the driver and attention to detail in terms of quality is high. It’s now an accepted truth that lights and screens are the new chrome in terms of automotive design, and the 2 Series Gran Coupe compliments its sleek screens with an interior ambient lighting package, as well as brushed metal elements and BMW’s usual array of logically arranged, legible and user-friendly switchgear. BUY, LEASE OR FINANCE A BMW 2 SERIES GRAN COUPE FROM OSV: 🤍 Market and Model Prices start at around £26,000 for the base 218i petrol 'Sport' variant; you'll need £1,350 more to add dual-clutch automatic transmission to it. The 220d diesel costs from around £31,500 in 'Sport' form. In either case, you'll need £2,500 more to add ritzier 'M Sport' trim. You'll need a budget of well over £37,000 for the M235i xDrive variant. As you'd expect for that kind of cash, all variants get an extremely high standard of spec, including full-LED headlights, sports seats and BMW's 'Live Cockpit Plus' package, which gives you an 8-8-inch control display with touch function. 'Sport'-spec models get 17-inch wheels, LED front foglights, front and rear parking sensors, and auto-dipping rear view mirror and two-zone climate control, plus BMW's 'Drive Performance Control' driving modes system. 'M Sport' variants meanwhile, are upgraded to 18-inch M light alloy Double-spoke rims. 'M Sport' and M235i variants also get the upgraded 'Live Cockpit Professional' infotainment package with its larger centre-dash 10.25-inch touchscreen and its "Hey BMW' 'Intelligent Personal Assistant' which will allow you to operate many of the car's major functions by merely speaking a command. Plus with this top trim level there's M Sport-tuned steering and suspension. And an aerodynamic body styling kit that re-styles both the front and rear bumpers. Cost of Ownership As you'd expect, the engineering here is prioritised towards improving efficiency. As a result, the base three cylinder 218i manages up to 47.1mpg (WLTP) and up to 114g/km (NEDC) in manual form. And the 220d delivers up to 57.6mpg (WLTP) and 110g/km (NEDC). The top M235i xDrive variant returns up to 37.2mpg (WLTP) and up to 153g/km (NEDC). On models with auto transmission, this car can be particularly efficient thanks to intelligent connectivity that enables the two auto gearboxes to adapt their shift strategy according to the planned route and driving situation. If this model is equipped with Active Cruise Control, both transmissions will factor in the data from this system and the standard Navigation, to avoid unnecessary gear changes in a quick succession of bends. Across the range, efficiency is also aided by coasting and Auto Start Stop functions that take their cue from the data supplied by the navigation system, the front-mounted camera and the sensors for the optional driving assistance systems. The coasting function de-couples the powertrain from the transmission at cruising speeds when the car is running in either its 'Comfort' or 'ECO PRO' driving modes. Summary It's surprising that it took BMW so long to bring us this car. It's arch-rival, the Mercedes CLA, has after all been around since 2013 demonstrating the very real global demand for a compact saloon with a trendy coupe-like vibe. Whether you prefer BMW's take on this concept will be purely down to personal preference. It doesn't bring anything particularly new to this profitable sub-segment, but it has the required technology, style and sheer swagger to make the necessary impact. If you were already thinking of buying the 1 Series hatch, we'd encourage you to also consider this Gran Coupe because it's essentially the same car without much of a practicality downside and a considerably more stylish feel. That in a nutshell sums up what this kind of car is all about. Late to this party BMW may be, but the brand has come ready to make an impact. Taking its cues from the BMW iX, the BMW Curved Display – with its frameless glass surface angled towards the driver – brings a modern highlight to the cabin, as well as enhancing the spacious and open feeling of the cabin. Five interior trim variants, including the new Aluminium Hexacube and open-pore fine eucalyptus wood, enable owners to individualise their car. The newly designed control panel contains the redesigned gear selector, Start/Stop button, volume control, and buttons to activate the parking brake, My Modes, Park Assist and vehicle settings. The front area of the centre console serves as a smartphone tray with wireless charging an option, or standard for M Sport models. The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer enjoys increased headroom, shoulder room and elbow room in both rows of seats compared to its predecessor. Rear seat passengers also enjoy a noticeable increase in kneeroom over the previous model. Newly-developed seats provide improved long-distance comfort and enhanced lateral support. Anthracite cloth upholstery is standard on Sport models with perforated Sensatec as an option. Vernasca leather and Alcantara/Sensatec with blue stitching are featured on Luxury and M Sport models respectively. Seat heating can be specified as an option for Sport models, as can 6-way electric adjustment with memory, lumbar support and massage function for all models. ISOFIX child safety seat fasteners are integrated into the rear outer seats, and the 40:20:40 split rear backrests can be folded down to expand boot capacity. The backrest angle can be adjusted separately, allowing the boot capacity to grow by up to 90 litres, while the forward/back adjustment allows up to 13cm of travel. Load capacity can be expanded from 470 to 1,455 litres (BMW 218d Active Tourer) or from 415 to 1,405 litres (BMW 220i Active Tourer, BMW 223i Active Tourer). The boot of the plug-in hybrid model holds up to 1,370 litres of cargo. Automatic tailgate operation comes as standard, while the optional Comfort Access (standard for M Sport) adds hands-free opening and closing. A Sport steering wheel is standard, while the M Sport specification includes an M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, joined by an anthracite M headliner, Sensatec/Alcantara sport seats, M pedals and an M logo in the information display. A host of further options allow owners to individualise the premium interior to their own tastes and requirements, including an electric panoramic roof with a new multi-layer roller blind cover and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon Sound System. Two latest-generation petrol engines are available from launch, starting with a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder unit. Its output of 156hp is assisted by a 19hp electric motor for a combined output of 170hp and peak torque of 280Nm. As a result, the new BMW 220i Active Tourer accelerates from 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit powering the BMW 223i Active Tourer develops 218hp (204hp plus 19hp) and 360Nm. It sprints from 0-62mph in 7.0 seconds, yet emits just 137-149g/km and achieves 42.8-47.1mpg. A brand new five-seat MPV people carrier design is rare indeed these days, especially if it isn't based on a van. But that's what we've got here in the sleeker shape of BMW's second generation 2 Series Active Tourer. Most of the volume brands have pulled out of this segment but the competitor model this Munich maker most cares about, the Mercedes B-Class, still does enough business in this sector to justify giving the Active Tourer model line a second crack at sales success. As before, the '2 Series' name is slightly misleading; this car has nothing in common with the rear-driven 2 Series Coupe. Instead, like its predecessor, this Active Tourer uses the front-driven FAAR architecture found in the BMW X1 and the MINI Countryman, the same platform chosen for the four-door 2 Series Gran Coupe. This time round though, the rather frumpy looks of the first generation Active Tourer have been swapped for something with a dash more panache. Writer - Jonathan Crouch Want to know more? BMW 2 Series 2015 - BEST Coupe Size! 218d M Sport | In Depth Review In my opinion, I think the BMW 2 Series is the best coupe size! not too big and not too small. This BMW 2 Series is a 2015 model and is a 218d M Sport. This BMW 2 series is pretty much the same size as a BMW 3 series E46 which is about 15-20 years old, which I believe is the right coupe size. However today, all cars are getting bigger and bigger and are losing that coupe feel and this is why I feel this is the best coupe size! Especially because it handles really well being 50:50 weight. I hope you enjoy this in depth review of this BMW 2 Series Coupe! Please let me know your thoughts on this BMW 2 Series 218d and if you think it is the best coupe size? In a world where no niche is left unfilled, BMW has had to come up with a rival to the Mercedes CLA and A-Class sedan and the Audi A3 sedan. The easiest solution seems to have been this, the 2 Series Gran Coupe - a 4-door version of the 2 Series. It is essentially just a 1 Series with the boot, meaning it runs on BMW's new front wheel drive platform. But having tested the new 1 Series, we've found that for most drivers, this won't even be a consideration. No, buyers interested in a car like this are not searching for exciting cornering abilities, they're looking for practicality, comprehensive tech, a comfy ride day-to-day and of course a premium badge on the nose. So we forced Ciro to put his consumer journalist hat on and give us a review of the new 220d. 0:00 Intro 0:35 Exterior Design 2:12 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe vs. Mercedes CLA Pricing Comparison 3:00 Power, Torque & Fuel Consumption 3:51 Boot Features & Space 5:00 Backseat Passenger Space 5:15 Front Interior Design 5:42 Drive Quality 6:49 Value for Money 7:52 Conclusion 8:57 Outro Visit Cars.co.za at: 🤍 Follow Cars.co.za on the socials: 🤍 🤍 🤍 Visit SentiMETAL at: 🤍 Follow SentiMETAL on the socials: 🤍 🤍
