On selected ebikes in our range, we use the innovative MAHLE Smart Bike Systems (formerly ebikemotion) X35 drive system. In this video, we explain what it is, what the advantages of the system are, plus we show you how to operate the system and understand the discreet iWOC One controller that displays battery levels and controls the assistance too. The system is fitted to our eSILEX, eSPEEDER and eSCULTURA bikes and it's designed to deliver a natural feeling assistance that also has a very low drag above the assistance speed limit, which is perfect for these lightweight, sporty-feeling bikes. Thanks to a fixed internal battery and a hub rather than a mid-mounted motor, the X35 drive system also allows a very sleek, non-ebike profile and a substantially lower weight than a traditional ebike. Without a traditional display unit - MAHLE's smartphone app covers that - we also use the neat iWOC One controller to power up the bike, so we also explain how to use and understand what the different coloured LED lights mean for battery and assistance levels. As part of a cooperation with sports car manufacturer Porsche and mechanical engineering company Trumpf, MAHLE has produced high-performance aluminum pistons suitable for series production using 3D printing techniques for the first time. The pistons were successfully tested on the engine test bench for Porsche’s 911 GT2 RS sports car. So, based on the general 5 star rating used all over, I made my rating to better suit my personality. The rating is based on my testing and my opinion of a specific product. It takes into consideration many factors like performance, reliability, availability and many other aspects which are essential to a consumer. Of course, some of these factors may not be applicable to other regions or demographics. As price is another factor in this rating, a product may be cheaper in other regions, rendering my rating as inadequate. In this case, you should reconsider if the product is suitable for you or not. 🛠 About the Tests: It's important to understand that the tests were performed under the same conditions as before with no other variables added. However, as much as I try, some slight variations may be present. Each test was performed 3 times. In each test, the maximum reading was recorded and the final result presented was the average value between these 3 readings. The instruments used in this video are not calibrated according to international quality standards. Because of this, the results from these tests can not be considered official and only serve as comparative observations and entertainment. ⚙ The dust test - In order to establish the dust separation performance of these filters, in the first test I used 2.2 grams of cement powder. The powder was scattered evenly on the filter with the help of a fan positioned on top of the filters. ⚙ The smoke test - Here I burned an exact quantity of paper (10 square mm) using the heat produced by a light bulb. The smoke was captured in a plastic box and once the piece of paper stopped producing smoke, a fan started below the filter, which pulled all the smoke through the filter. ⚙ The V.O.C. test - Four drops of acetone was used in this test, placed on a cotton pad sitting 2.5 cm from the filter. ⚙ The gas exhaust test - My motorcycle was positioned 1.5m from the filters and it was turned on for 10 seconds. The engine was warm and the RMP was stable for each test. It's a 1000ccm Suzuki V-Strom from 2002. I'm not sure what emission class it has, but if you do, let me know. ⚙ The diesel exhaust test - The car used in this test was a Skoda Roomster with a 1.4 TDI engine. The exhaust duct was positioned 1.5m form the filters. The engine was warm and the test ran for 10 seconds.
