Alimjan Abliz is a uyghur musician who lives in Urumqi (Urumchi) originaly from Kashgar, East Turkistan. Ghijäk – a fiddle with a soundboard of stretched skin. The largest of the Uyghur ghijäks is found amongst the Dolan, with one horse-hair melodic string and several metal sympathetic strings. The Qumul ghijäk has two bowed strings tuned a fifth apart, and six to eight sympathetic strings. The earliest Chinese historical records relate that a bowed instrument strung with horse-hair was played in the Qumul region, but the contemporary instrument is probably a fairly recent hybrid between the Chinese erhu fiddle and the Uyghur ghijäk, testament to the Chinese cultural influence in this easternmost point of East Turkestan. The ghijäk now played by professional musicians was adapted in the 1950s, today its four metal strings are tuned like the violin but its playing technique is closer to the Iranian spike fiddle, held on the knee, the bow is held loosely in the hand, palm upwards, and the strings are pressed against the bow by pivoting the instrument. She is a citizen of Finland.[1] Life Dilber was born in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. She was admitted in 1976 to the Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe. Four years later she enrolled in the Department of Vocal Music and Opera at Beijing's Central Music Conservatory and while still a student there won an award in the Finland International Opera Competition.[2] In 1987 Dilber finished her master's degree at the Conservatory and promptly joined the roster of the Finnish National Opera company, later adding a position with Sweden's Malmo Opera. She twice won the Birgit Nilsson Stipend, in 1997 and 1998. Dilber Yunus has served as a distinguished professor in China Conservatory of Music between 2008 and 2018. In September 2018, she joined the Central Conservatory of Music and serves as a professor in the department of vocal arts and opera performance.[3] Dilber is considered to rank among the more accomplished singers of her generation in her voice category, with a clarion and powerful top. Sophie Zakir then appeared as a soloist from 1984 to 1989 in the "Central Music Joint Stock Company" in the Uighur autonomic district, Urumqi (China). From 1990 to1993 she deepened her art education in the form of postgraduate studies at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory under Prof. B. On the concert stage she sang and performed as a lyric soprano and later as a dramatic coloratura soprano in many international cities including Moscow, Kaliningrad, Omsk (Russia), Beijing, Urumqi (China), Almaty, Chimkent (Kazakhstan), Washington DC, New York (USA), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Prague (Czech Republic), Munich (Germany), Brussels (Belgium), Vienna, Salzburg (Austria), Turkey (Istanbul), Zurich (Switzerland). Her solo concerts were broadcast live on television and radio. The last solo concerts of Sophie in China and Kazakhstan were attended by several thousands of her fans. The current repertoire of Sophie Zakir includes classic songs, chamber music and operas from the period ranging from Baroque to Mozart, to the music of the early 20th Century, and ancient Chinese, Uighur, Kazakh and Uzbek opera and folk songs. In addition to her active opera and concert career Mrs. Zakir works as a vocal coach. She speaks the languages German, Chinese, Russian, Uyghur, Kazakh and Turkish.
